The knowledge shared in this book is the result of my 25-year journey - from rookie competitor to elite-level kettlebell sport athlete, World Champion, coach of World Champions, and international ambassador for the sport.
This book has been a long time in the making, and I’m now ready to share it with you — to equip you with the tools and knowledge I’ve gained, and to help you bring out the
very best in yourself. However, reading this book will not automatically made you a champion or fix your lifting technique. You need to devote time, hard work, and most of all, patience if you want to see your lifting transform into something you can be truly proud of.
Part 1 of this book is an illustrated, step-by-step look at each of the kettlebell sport lifts. Each graphic shows the visual depiction of each movement phase. All the drawings are accompanied by technical notes which describe the purpose behind each movement phase, as well as an in-depth examination of the hand and feet positions, body orientation, muscle activation, timing, and breathing.
I also talk about the many technical errors I struggled with, as well as my practical solutions on how I was able to fix them. You will learn about my discoveries that helped transform my lifting from merely good to world-class.
Part 2 provides a brief but necessary introduction about kettlebell sport training.
By learning about the physiological demands and main training principles, you will have a better understanding about what differentiates an effective program from an ineffective one. Included is a beginner training template for the Long Cycle, Jerk, and Snatch that I personally use with my students. However, please do not be misled into thinking that these templates only apply to novices. I’ve gotten great results with the very same templates myself, as well as with my intermediate and advanced students, because the program still adheres to the underlying principles of kettlebell training. To learn my training methodology in full I encourage you to read “Kettlebell Sport. A training methodology tutorial by Denis Vasilev”.
